Believing in yourself is not the same as believing in your ego

Your ego is your external identity. All the parts of you that make up you in the external world. Your name, ethnicity, your job, your personality, your family, your achievements.

But what Believing in Yourself, actually means is believing in your highest self. The spiritual part of you that is ok no matter what, forever hopeful, always resourceful and relentlessly resilient and optimistic.

Ironically, that higher self part of you, is not really concerned about upholding your ego or your identity. That higher part of you is concerned about projecting love and compassion into the world, contributing to the world in a passionate and idealistic way.

Believing in yourself, is part of the larger notion of believing. Believe in the universe, because you are part of the universe and the universe resides within you. Believe in others because they will reflect back the values you profess.

So if your self-worth relies on you keeping your job, getting that particular number on your pay cheque, the job title, the promotion, the partner, the house, the number of kids, winning the championship finals, then your sense of contentment can easily plummet as soon as something doesn't go your way.
