Things happen all at once

Your youth is the time to travel, have fun, throw caution to the wind.

It's easier to meet people and date when you're young.

Don't waste time, build your career as early as you can. Build your foundations in your twenties, slog hard in your thirties. Your career takes off when you're young and energetic.

It's much easier having a baby when you're young. When you're over 35, you'll be medically considered to have a geriatric pregnancy.

Have you heard some version of the above statements?

It's so easy to say 'Don't waste your youth' but what doesn't get explained all too often is that your twenties and thirties might be the most optimum time for everything - travel, being reckless, biologically having children, changes in jobs, setting foundations for your career and finances.

And while no doubt, there's truth and validity to starting early, it's near impossible to do EVERYTHING early. In fact some things are in conflict with each other.

If you're busy travelling the world, it might not be the best time to settle down with a partner.

If you're changing jobs to find your right path, you might not be in the best position to start thinking about kids.

If you're raising kids, you may not have the energy to focus on your career or travel.

If you're building foundations on your career, you may not be using your youth to be as reckless and carefree as you might want to.

The reality is we make choices about how we intend to spend our time. Sometimes we get to consciously choose our priorities and how we spend our time. Sometimes, life throws circumstances our way and we don't get to choose.

However, the biggest regrets come from wasting our youth on prioritising things that were never true to ourselves in the first place.

So do an audit of your life and how you spend your time. Be as intentional and authentic to yourself as possible.

Because a decade from now, you'll look back on your life and think where did the time go?

It all happens at once, simultaneously. In parrallel.
