With every change, there is both loss and gain

Life never repeats itself perfectly. So every time something (literally anything) happens, it is a change by definition.
So when the world is constantly changing around us, and we are in a constant state of flux ourselves, how do we keep our emotions and sanity levels stable? The only consistent answer I can come up with is trust in a higher power. Trust that you are made up of that higher power and you can handle anything that comes your way.
Firstly, with every single change there is both loss and gain. If it's a seemingly happy change like a promotion, there is still both loss and gain. There is the loss of your former position, that came with less responsibility and less scrutiny. There is the gain of status, power and income.
For every seemingly devastating change, therefore the same must be true. With the loss of physical mobility, may come an appreciation for the fragility of life.
The process of renewal brings its greatest joy - new life. And it's so obvious to me, how precious new life is. But with the process of new life is simultaneously the realisation that I am ageing, and that one day, I will eventually die. There's no real escaping that realisation.
But if I focus on just the fact that I'm ageing and headed towards death, then I completely miss the real beauty of my ability to bring forth life, love and joy right here in this moment.
